Writing a fantasy novel (or short story) is much easier when you have a story in mind that makes you itch to sit down and write. The more you work on it and flesh out your characters, the more excited you become — and the less likely you are to ditch your work in progress when the going gets tough. And it will.

There’s more to writing a good fantasy story than just the fun aspect. You have to be able to write a good story. And while there is an element of hard work to this, I shall now show you that the hard graft of writing, yes really, and even the process of learning how to go about it, can also be fun.
